Wyalusing falls to Pius X.

Pius X held Wyalusing to 138 yards in their 34-6 win over the Rams in non-league football action Saturday.

In the first quarter Pius' T.J. Belle scored on a 3-yard run. The extra point failed but Pius took a 6-0 with 9:12 left in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter Eric Marbury caught a 79-yard touchdown strike from Nick Brotzman. Dashon Russell pounded in the 2-point conversion to put Pius up 14-0 with 10:30 left in the first half.

Then at the 4:36 mark Russell scored on a 23-yard run. Nate Winchilla added the point after to put Pius up 21-0.

Pius scored again as with 43.6 seconds left Marbury caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Brotzman. The point after failed but Pius held a 27-0 advantage at the half.

In the third quarter Nate Stewart scored on a 79-yard run with 6:08 left. Winchilla added the kick to put Pius X up 34-0.

Late in the fourth quarter Justin Haley hit Luke Jennings with a 33-yard scoring strike to nix the shutout, making it a 34-6 final.

Tim Ace had 28 yards rushing on seven carries for Wyalusing while Dylan Otis had 22 yards on five carries.

Under center Andrew Pickett started for the Rams, going 2-for-12 for 25 yards with a pick. Haley came on late, going 1-for-3 forr his 33 yard scoring strike.

Tyler Fenton had two catches for 25 yards while Jennings had the one touchdown reception.

Brotzman led Pius, going 11-for-15 for 149 yards throwing while Stewart's scoring run was the high rushing total for Pius.

Marbury had 95 yards receiving on three catches while Russell had seven catches for 63 yards.

After the game the Knights of Columbus selected two Players of the Game. Otis was selected for Wyalusing while Belle got the nod for Pius.

The Rams host North Penn on Friday.
