Athens boys, girls second at Whitney Point Invitational.

The Athens boys and girls cross-country teams took second at the Whitney Point Invitational Tuesday.

The boys scored 78 points behind first place Vestal, who had 29.

Gabe Herbst was second in the race at 18:19.7 while teammates Kevin Singhel (19:58.8) and Jeffery Gao (19:59.5) were 24th and 25th.

Sam Perri (20:33.8) was 33rd and Mike Walter (20:56.6) was 39th to round out the Wildcat top five.

In the girls' race Athens had 49 places to take second behind first place Johnson City (39).

Maria Hudock (22:38.3) was fifth while Emiley Arnold (22:53.4) was seventh to lead the Wildcats.

Also for Athens Emily Madigan (24:47) was 15th, Michaela Courtney (25:37) was 24th and Selkie Bishop (26:04.8) took 26th to round out the top five.

GIRLS: Wellsboro 15, Jersey Shore 50

BOYS: Jersey Shore 19, Wellsboro 36

Anna Bleggi led the Lady Hornets to a win, taking first in 23:32.

Jada Jackson was third in 24:53 followed by Jordyn Coffee (25:16) in fourth, Annie Sweeney (25:40) in fifth and Caitlynn Butler (26:02) in sixth.

Alden Weiner led the Hornet boys, taking fifth in 21:00 while teammate Bryon Callahan (21:20) was sixth.

Also for Wellsboro, Joey Messmer (21:24) was seventh, Connor Brought (22:52) was eighth and Kyle Wilson (23:26) was 10th.
