Athens girls run past WellsboroATHENS -- The Wildcats outscored Wellsboro 19-6 in the first quarter on their way to the win.

Breana Gambrell and Shanell Baglini had 14 points each for the Wildcats and Morgan Westbrook had 12 points.

Emily Lunger had eight for Athens and Hannah Reid had four, while Ariana Gambrell had three and Kaitlyn Testen had one point.

Wellsboro got 10 points each from Sarah Ingerick and Rachael Tuttle.

Alexa Singer had four points for Wellsboro and Jessica Grab had two points, while Autum Kitajima had one point.

Athens won the JV game 38-10 with Ariana Gambrell scoring 20 points.

Athens is at Warrior Run with a 2:00 p.m. JV start on Saturday.

Sullivan County 43, Benton 29

The Griffins qualified for districts for the first time since 2011 with the victory.

Bethany Weinhardt led the Griffins with 10 points and eight boards and Ashley Faus had nine points and six steals.

Sarah Parrish had eight points and 14 boards and Torie Shultz had eight points and four steals.

Kaiti Beinlich had six points and Stef Kramer had two points for the Griffins.

Dana Kingsbury led Benton with 10 points.

Sullivan County won the JV game 27-12. Leah Beinlich had 12 points to lead the Griffins.

Sullivan County is 11-8 and hosts CMVT today.

Tioga 44, SVE 41

The Tigers trailed by three with under two minutes to go, but Kirsten Schweiger got a steal and a layup to cut the deficit to one.

An Olivia Howland layup with a minute left put the Tigers on top and Tioga hit a pair of free throws to seal it.

Madi Terribury led Tioga with 12 points and 12 boards and Sarah Hollenbeck had nine points, on three threes, and added three assists and four boards.

Katelyn Stubbs had seven points and Taylor Ayres had six for Tioga. Stubbs added three assists and two steals.

Howland had four points and six boards and Schweiger and Megan Godfrey had three points each.

Daysha Rorick led SVE with 11 points.

Tioga won the JV game 42-33 with Grace Manwaring leading Tioga with 10.

Tioga is at Moravia on Thursday.

Waverly 40, Watkins Glen 29

The Wolverines held Watkins Glen to eight first half points in the win.

Wendi Hammond had 15 for Waverly and Elle Nittinger had 12 points.

Sydney Tomasso had five points for the Wolverines and Shailei Kraft had four points.

Breanna Featherson and Marissa Trudeau each had two points for Waverly.

Mariah Gonzalez led Watkins Glen with 13 points.

Galeton 53, Smethport 45

Cortney Parsell had a career-high 31 points and Makaya Shadle had 15 for Galeton in the win.

Laura Parsell had four points and Kelly Murray finished with three for Galeton.
