Athens, Wellsboro fall in playoff tune-ups.

ATHENS — Lourdes held Athens to 10 second half points in their 42-23 non-league girls’ basketball win Monday.

Lourdes jumped out 30-13 at the half then played ball control in the second half as they out scored the Wildcats 12-10.

Breana Gambrell had 11 points to lead Athens while Shanell Baglini netted six.

Ariana Gambrell and Emily Lunger had three points each in the loss.

Lilly Bickel led Lourdes with 20 points.

BOYS

St. John Neumann 61, Wellsboro 48

Neumann out scored the Hornets 20-6 in the third quarter to pull away in boys’ basketball non-league action Monday.

It was a 1-point deficit (25-24) for Wellsboro at the half.

Dalton Prough had 12 points and five boards to lead the Hornets while Brandon Lamphier and Collin Pietropola had 10 points a piece. Pietropola also had three steals.

Quinn Henry added eight points, Jacob Singer had six, and Brandyn Tuttle added two.

Kevin Anderson had 27 points to lead Neumann, 17 of them in the second half.

Holden Kennedy had 13 points as the Wellsboro JV team won 52-27.
