Sayre edges Athens.

Sayre edged cross-town rivals Athens 40-34 in NTL girls' basketball action Monday.

Athens led 19-15 at the half, but Sayre out scored them 25-15 in the second to pull out the win.

Emily Sutryk and Steph Klovekorn had 11 points each to lead the Redskins while Camry Lane added eight points.

Blair Wampole netted six with Emily Moore and Carry Claypool scoring two points each.

Klovekorn added nine boards while Wampole grabbed eight to go with three blocks.

Emily Lunger had 10 points to lead Athens with Kara Chapman scoring 10 to go with 19 boards for the double-double.

Sophie Adams netted four while Avery Priester had three.

Adams also had nine boards while Lunger grabbed eight.

“We got the scoring support we have been looking for,” said Sayre coach Eileen Sparduti. “Emily Sutryk found her range and Blair looked for her opportunities as well. Good floor leadership from Camry Lane down the stretch helped to close the win.”

Athens won the JV game 37-23 as Kayleigh Miller and Emily Pennison had nine points each.

Athens will host NEB Wednesday.

Elk Lake 44, Wyalusing 29

Hailey Jayne had 10 points and two steals to lead the Rams as they fell in non-league girls' basketball action Monday.

The Rams were down just by one point (18-17) at the half but a 14-5 third quarter in favor of Elk Lake put Wyalusing in a hole they couldn't dig out of.

Callie Bennett added seven points while Sarah Bird had four points, 11 boards and three assists.

Emily Champluvier had four points and two assists, Page Robinson had two points as Morgan Woodruff and Daphne Fassett had one point each.

Abby Johns led Elk Lake with 15 points.

Wyalusing won the JV game.

The Rams are at NP-Mansfield Wednesday.

Montoursville 51, Troy 10

Emilie Cole had six points and three boards to lead the Lady Trojans in their non-league loss.

Roxanne Kingsley had four points and six boards while Shyanna Yaggie had three rebounds and two assists.

Rchael Hickok, Hannah Houseknecht and Cessily Harding each grabbed two rebounds while Katherine Polakowski had two blocks.

Troy will host Canton Wednesday.

Otto-Eldred 64, Galeton 46

Makaya Shadle had 28 points to lead the Tigers in their North Tier League girls' basketball loss Monday.


Lourdes 77, Sullivan County 62

The Griffins led 23-15 after one quarter, but Lourdes out scored them 62-49 the rest of the way.

John Saxe was 10-for-16 for 25 points and six assists to lead Sullivan while Alex Baumunk added 15 points.

Sam Carpenter had seven, Jesse Williams added six points, Dylan Hottenstein had three while Justin Metzger, Will Kiner and Dave Pardoe scored two points each.

Sullivan won the JV game 51-36 as Omar Rubio had 10 points.

The Griffins will host Blue Ridge Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. varsity start.

Montrose 74, Towanda 57

Luke Tama nearly had a triple double of 16 points, nine boards and eight steals, but it wasn't enough as the Black Knights fell in non-league action Monday.

Tama also had three blocks.

Dalton Potter had 20 points while Lars Thomason added 12 points.

Dylan Hartmann had four points and nine boards, Damien Thurston and Quadir Brica had two points each while Matt Madigan scored one.

Muncy 64, NP-Liberty 34

Duncan Zeafla and Logyn Choplosky had six points each to lead the Mountaineers in their non-league loss.

Brandyn Choplosky added four points while Noah Spencer and Klayton Roupp each had three.

Tanner Zeafla, Gunnar Rice, Logan Horsley, Isaac Way, Nick Grinnell and Koleton Roupp each had two points.
