2014 Towanda vs. Liberty Boys TennisTOWANDA - Towanda swept Liberty in NTL boys' tennis action Wednesday.

The Black Knights won the first match 5-0 then edged out a 4-3 victory in the second match.

In the first match Towanda won all the singles matches.

At first singles David Rodenhizer defeated Andrew Nadas 6-0, 6-0 while at second singles Kevin Blackman edged Erick Kreger 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

At third singles Christian Thomason beat Ricky Pike 6-2, 6-2, at fourth singles Dawson Wright defeated Chuck DeWalt 6-1, 6-1 and at fifth singles Matt McNeal topped Tyler Repard 6-4, 6-0.

In the second match the Black Knights took the top two singles matches again as Rodenhizer beat Nadas 6-1, 6-0 while Blackman defeated Kreger 6-2, 6-3.

At third singles Pike beat McNeal 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 while at fourth singles DeWalt edged Andrew Vogel 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

At fifth singles Repard beat Vogel 6-4, 5-3.

But Towanda took both doubles matches to earn the win.

At first doubles Thomas and Wright beat Nadas and Pike 3-6, 6-3, 10-3 while at second doubles Rodenhizer and Blackman swept Kreger and Repard 6-0, 6-0.

The Black Knights (8-5) will travel to CV Friday then host Wellsboro Monday.

First match: Galeton 6, Wellsboro 1

Second match: Galeton 6, Wellsboro 1

The Tigers remained unbeaten and earned a District IV team berth with a sweep in boys' tennis action Wednesday.

In the first match at first singles Wellsboro's Aaron Dillman defeated Dakota Shadle 6-1, 6-0 as the lone Hornet win.

At second singles Tyler Dugan beat Tyler Kennedy 6-0, 6-0, at third singles Mitchell Smith swept Erik Stemcosky 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles Eli Trimbur topped Tyler Chamberlain 6-0, 6-0 and at fifth singles Jon Parsell beat Anthony Cooper 6-3, 6-0.

Galeton took both doubles matches as Shadle and Dugan beat Dillman and Kennedy 6-1, 6-0 while Smith and Trimbur won over Wellsboro's Trey Smith and Zeke Kitchen 6-0, 6-0.

In the second match at first singles Dillman again beat Shadle 6-0, 6-4 with Galeton taking the rest of the singles matches.

At second singles Dugan beat Kennedy 6-0, 6-0, at third singles Smith topped Stemcosky 6-2, 6-0, at fourth singles Galeton's David Rigas defeated Chamberlain 6-0, 6-0 and at fifth singles Tiger Jacob Batterson won over Cooper 6-0, 6-0.

At first doubles Shadle and Dugan beat Dillman and Kennedy 6-0, 6-1 while at second doubles Smith and Trimbur won over Smith and Kitchen 6-0, 6-0.

Galeton improves to 10-0 on the season and they will travel to Williamson today for a double-header beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Odessa-Montour 5, Notre Dame 2

Crusaders played OM even on the courts but lost due to having to forfeit fourth singles and two doubles matches.

Odessa's Joey Collins beat Notre Dame's Spencer Raynes 7-5, 6-0 at first singles while Raynes' teammate Curtis Harris beat Crusader Connor Perrault 6-1, 6-4 at second singles.

At third singles Notre Dame's Junior Coulibaly beat Odessa's Frank Carson 8-6, 3-6, 6-3.

Then Notre Dame's first doubles of Adrien Remy and Rocco Coulibaly beat OM's Manley Gavich and Kourtney Cook 6-1, 6-1.
