Wellsboro, Towanda split.

Towanda and Wellsboro split a double-header in NTL boys' tennis action Monday.

The Hornets took the first match 4-3 while the Knights won the second match 4-2.

In the first Towanda's David Rodenhizer won at first singles 6-3, 6-0 over Wellsboro's Aaron Dillman.

At second singles Wellsboro's Tyler Kennedy beat Kevin Blackman 6-1, 6-1 but Black Knight Dawson Wright won at third singles 6-1, 6-1 over Erik Stemcosky.

Towanda's Christian Thomason took the fourth singles match over Tyler Chamberlain 6-1, 6-1 but at fifth singles Wellsboro's Anthony Cooper kept the Hornets alive with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Logan Spencer.

Then Wellsboro swept the doubles to take the match.

At first doubles Dillman and Kennedy rallied to beat Wright and Thomason 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-2 and at second doubles Zeke Kitchen and Trey Smith held off Matt McNeal and Anthony Vogel 6-4, 7-5.

In the second match things started out the same.

Rodenhizer beat Dillman 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while at second singles Kennedy beat Blackman 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

At third singles Thomason defeated Stemcosky 6-1, 6-0, at fourth singles Wright beat Chamberlain 6-1, 6-0 while at fifth singles Cooper won over Spencer 6-4, 6-2.

However, Towanda's McNeal and Vogel got revenge on Kitchen and Smith, 6-3, 6-1, at second doubles to give the Knights the match.

Towanda is now 6-5 on the year while Wellsboro is 3-5.

First match: Liberty 4, Williamson 1

Second match: Liberty 6, Williamson 1

The Mountaineers picked up two wins in NTL boys' tennis action Monday.

In the first match Liberty's Andrew Nadas beat Henry Meinstereifel 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while at second singles Mountaineer Erick Kreger defeated Chase Buck 6-3, 6-1.

Williamson's Robby Satterly beat Chuck DeWalt 6-1, 6-2 at third singles but Liberty took the fourth and fifth singles matches as Kade Krueger won over Caleb Ransom 6-1, 6-0 and Ricky Pike won by forfeit.

The two teams then went straight to the second match.

At first singles Nadas beat Meinstereifel 6-1, 6-1 while at second singles Satterly beat Kreger 6-4, 6-6 (7-3).

At third singles Pike defeated Buck 6-4, 6-2, at fourth singles Hunter Drayer won over Ransom 6-0, 6-0 and at fifth singles DeWalt won by forfeit.

At first doubles Pike and DeWalt won 6-4, 4-2 over Satterly and Buck, a match then ended early due to an injury.

At second doubles Nadas and Tyler Repard defeated Meinstereifel and Ransom 6-1, 6-2.

Liberty (2-5) will travel to Towanda Wednesday for another double-header with a 1:30 p.m. start.

Waverly 6, Notre Dame 1

The Wolverines improved to 4-1 on the year while the Crusaders fell to 0-5.

At first singles Waverly's Hunter Heath beat Spencer Raynes 6-1, 6-1 while at second singles Wolverine Aaron Crummenauer defeated Connor Berault 7-5, 7-5.

At third singles Waverly's Cody Czebiniak won over Adrien Reny 6-0, 6-2 while Notre Dame got their win at fourth singles as Rocco Coulibaly defeated Brandon Ellers 6-1, 5-7, 6-4.

Notre Dame had to forfeit the three doubles matches.

The Crusaders travel to Waverly today.
