Athens girls third at Waite Molnar InvitationalELMIRA, N.Y. — Behind Breana Gambrell's meet record long jump, the Athens Lady Wildcats took third at the Waite Molnar Invitational Saturday.

Athens scored 131 points, just behind second place Elmira (133), while Corning (180) ran away with the team title.

Notre Dame (43) was fifth while Williamson (30) took eighth.

Breana Gambrell won four events on the day, but the biggest victory came in her signature event: the long jump. She set a new meet record in 19-feet, 3 1/4-inches, four feet more than second place. Williamson's Amber Farman was fourth in the long jump at 13-feet, 10-inches.

In the triple jump, Gambrell won in 35-feet, 5 3/4-inches, while Farman was sixth in 30-feet even.

Gambrell took the 100 in 12.77 and the 200 in 26.42. Her teammate Emily Lunger was second in 26.75, while Notre Dame's Katie Debara was sixth in 29.38.

Lunger won the 400 in 1:02.27, while Notre Dame's Kristen Oplinger (1:06.19) was fourth.

Breana also won the high jump at 5-feet even with Notre Dame's Taylor Grey and Williamson's Morgan Cady in fifth and sixth at 4-feet, 6-inches.

Wildcat Ariana Gambrell won the 100 hurdles in 17.39 while Notre Dame's Laurel Karee (18.41) was fourth. Williamson's Claire Miller (18.41) took fifth and Athens' Jocelyn Burns (19.26) was sixth.

Athens' Ashtyn Allen and Suzanna Searles both tied for the top spot in the discus at 98-feet, 7-inches. Teammate Paige McCarthy (75-feet, 6-inches) took eighth.

Wildcat Katherine Shenot won the shot put in 32-feet, 10-inches while Grey (30-feet, 10-inches) was second. Wildcat Julianna Sporn was eighth in 27-feet, 1 1/2-inches.

Notre Dame's 4x100 relay was second in 55.09.

Athens' 4x800 relay of Caitlyn Powell, Hailey Kennedy, Selkie Bishop and Sophie Adams was third in 11:31.23.

In the 400 hurdles, Athens' Sierra Ardrey took third in 1:24.79 followed by Miller (1:26.06) in fifth and Burns (1:26.75) in sixth.

In the 1500, Williamson's Jules Jones was sixth in 5:20.05 while Notre Dame's Alexandra Cowley (5:40.05) was seventh.

Jones was also seventh in the 800 in 2:41.41 and in the 3000 in 11:55.03. Her teammate Paige Swartz was sixth in the pole vault at 6-feet, 6-inches.

Athens' Samantha Marco was fourth in the steeplechase in 11:09.92.

On the boys' side, Williamson was fifth with 57 points while Athens was seventh with 45. Notre Dame came in ninth with 41.

Corning won with 161 points while Binghamton (95) took second.

Notre Dame's Matt Karee won the 3200 in 9:53.59 while teammate Matt Connolly (10:27.58) took third.

Williamson's Matthew Barber was second in the triple jump at 38-feet, 3 3/4-inches with teammate Daniel Freeman (37-feet, 7-inches) third. Athens' Matteo Baglini (35-feet, 5 3/4-inches) took sixth, Williamson's Micah Shutes (35-feet, 2 1/2-inches) was seventh and Athens' Adam Dieg (34-feet, 3-inches) came in eighth.

Athens' Damien Hudson was third in the 100 in 12:24 followed by Barber (12.38) and Notre Dame's Connor Bayne (12.57) in fourth and fifth. Bayne was fifth in the 200 in 24.70 while Hudson (24.75) took sixth.

Williamson's Allen Hackler was third in the 110 hurdles at 18.48 with teammate Chris Padgett (18.82) fourth. Athens' Sean Waltman (19.09) was fifth with teammate Braden Priester (19.34) seventh while Williamson's Trace Miles (19.36) took eighth.

Notre Dame's Andrew Finnerty (1:07.76) was third in the 400 hurdles, followed by Priester (1:10.34) in seventh and Miles (1:10.37) in eighth.

Athens' Jon Dailey (5-feet, 4-inches) was third in the high jump while Williamson's Harley Leonard (5-feet, 2-inches) was sixth.

Williamson's Caleb Hurd (114-feet, 6-inches) was third in the discus while teammate Chase Hallett (92-feet, 3-inches) took seventh. Athens' Tim Henry (88-feet, 7-inches) was eighth.

Wildcat Ethan Lane was fourth in the 800 in 2:14.47 while Notre Dame's Justin Bauco was fourth in the steeplechase in 7:19.20.

Williamson's Madden Doud was fifth in the 1600 in 4:56 with Athens' Nate Aquilio (5:05.10) taking eighth.

Waltman was sixth in the pole vault in 8-feet, 6-inches while teammate Evan Menard (8-feet) took eighth.

Freeman (57.17) was seventh in the 400 while Athens' Doug Vosburg (58.27) took eighth. Freeman was fifth in the long jump at 17-feet, 8-inches while teammate Tyler Gardner (17-feet, 3 3/4-inches) took seventh.

Notre Dame's 4x400 relay was third in 3:48.25 while Athens' team of Priester, Arvid Johnson, Baglini and Lane was eighth in 4:04.24.

Williamson's Michael Gottwald (32-feet, 11 1/2-inches) was seventh in the shot put while Athens' Matt Faria (32-feet, 10-inches) was eighth.

Athens' 4x800 relay of Griffin Jacobson, Aquilio, T.J. Toscano and Aaron MacBride was eighth in 9:52.27.
